Leading pension CEOs, CIOs, and retirement experts met at the JW Marriott in Copacabana on the sidelines of the G20 for the 8th annual G20 Pensions Dialogue (18 November 2024)
That high-level closed-doors conference (hybrid format) brought together many of Brazil’s senior pension fund executives who discussed “the future of finance, social protection and asset ownership” with a distinguished panel of pension board members (trustees) and financial policy experts “from Toronto to Tasmania“
The 2024 G20 Pensions Dialogue was co-chaired by Dr. Devanir Silva and Jarbas de Biagi, ABRAPP, the Brazilian Natl. Association of Pension Funds, the Hon. Nick Sherry, former pension minister and chairman of the board, TWU-Super, the Australian Transportation Sector Pension Fund, and Maher Nicolas J. Firzli, executive director, World Pensions®, co-founder of the G20-led Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF)
The panelists also discussed retirement reform, modern pension design, and the notion of “pension superpower” — notably in relation to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s plan to establish “pension mega-funds to unlock billions” for productive investment in Britain’s venture, tech, deep tech and energy, transportation and digital infrastructure sectors
